It is the most popular island of the Danube in Budapest, situated between Margharet and Árpád bridges. It is mostly covered by landscape parks, and is a popular recreational area in the middle of the city. Its medieval ruins are reminders of its importance in the Middle Ages as a religious center.
There are several sporting possibilities on the island: a swimming pool, an athletic stadium, a running track around the island and a great plage. There are two big playgrounds for children and a small zoo that makes the island a popular family venue.
