Citadella is the Hungarian word for Citadel,  a kind of fortress. It is located upon the top of the strategic Gellért Hill, which is the biggest hill by the Danube riverbank of Budapest and a World Heritage site. If offers a splendid view over the whole city. One of Budapest’s landmarks, the Statue of Liberty is situated there.

The building was constructed for the Habsburg family after the War of Independence of 1848-49 and has been reconstructed several times since then.
